Day 1 of holiday in Kenya - Mweiga
Departing Nairobi at 9.30 a.m., we go north to Mweiga to meet our guide and then up into the forested eastern slopes of the Aberdare ranges where we make camp.
Day 2 & 3 holiday in Kenya - Walking
We start our walk. Carry only what you need for the day's walk, the vehicle will meet us in the moorlands where camp will be made. A short game drive if weather permits. 
Day 4 holiday in Kenya - Nairobi
We depart the moorland camp (10,000ft) and descend by vehicle looking for game on the way. We drop off the guide and head back to Nairobi arriving before 5.00 p.m.
Note: Clients should arrange to have good weather proof clothing and a warm sleeping bag, a water bottle and good walking shoes plus a pair of shoes to wear in camp.

DETAILED HOLIDAY IN KENYA ITINERARY
Your safari starts by heading to the beautiful arid Samburu / buffalo springs reserve and a private site within. After several days exploring Samburu / Buffalo Springs, you’ll enjoy a day hike up Mt Ollololokwe. Next you will head South to the base of Mt Kenya where you will be guests at the Dawson homestead. The safari then goes west to Soloi Ranch, Kenya’s premier Rhino sanctuary, and at the end of the day south to Lake Nakuru, where a picturesque private camp, situated in the National park, provides an ideal base for observing birds and wildlife. On the last leg, journey south to the spectacular plains of the Maasai Mara where you will enjoy three nights at a luxury tented camp. Explore the lesser-visited parts of this incredible wildlife area over the ensuing days before returning to Nairobi on the final morning. Transport will be inn a customized 4WD vehicle, with roof hatches, allowing more flexible and freedom to get off the beaten track.
Day 1 – HOLIDAY IN KENYA SAMBURU / BUFFALO SPRINGS RESERVE
Depart Nairobi this morning and drive north through the fertile Central Highlands. Stop for lunch in Timau on the slopes of Mt. Kenya before descending the Mt Kenya massif to the low-lying town of Isiolo, gateway to the Northern frontier. Arrive at Samburu / Buffalo springs reserve and game drive en-route to our private campsite arriving in the late afternoon. The reserve is located on the fringe on the arid northern region of Kenya within the territory of the Samburu pastoralists. Due to its location it has wildlife that is rare elsewhere in the country. These animals include the Gerenuk antelope, oryx Grevy zebra, Somali ostrich and reticulated giraffe. Overnight-Private Tented Camp (all meals & activities)
Day 2 -HOLIDAY IN KENYA SAMBURU / BUFFALO SPRINGS RESERVE
A full day to explore the Reserve with morning and afternoon game drives. Relax at camp during the heat of the day. Overnight – Private Tented Camp (all meals & activities)
Day 3 -HOLIDAY IN KENYA SAMBURU / BUFFALO SPRINGS RESERVE
Today there is a full day walk on Mt Ol-lolokwe, located an hour north of the reserve, with Samburu guides who are thoroughly knowledgeable on all aspects of the mountain from the fauna and flora to the historical and cultural importance of Ol lololokwe to their people. Mt. Ol lololokwe, meaning round headed, is one of the most distinctive landmarks in northern Kenya with its stunningly massive rock face. The mountain is immersed in Samburu folklore and walking safaris on the mountain offer a unique experience. Return to our Buffalo Springs camp late in the afternoon. Day 4 –HOLIDAY IN KENYA DAWSON HOMESTEAD
This morning we’ll take an early morning game drive and return to camp for breakfast. The camp will be moved today and we will leave Samburu / buffalo Springs late morning. There will be a stop at the springs for those wishing to swim and also a stop for a picnic lunch before leaving the reserve. The drive south will take us back on to the Mt. Kenya massif and to the base of the mountain arriving late inn the afternoon. Here you will be hosted at the homestead of Jock & Enid Dawson. The Dawson’s are long term Kenya residents and are a wealth of information on the country past and present. Overnight – Dawson Homestead or Aberdare Country Club (all meals & activities)
Day 5 – HOLIDAY IN KENYASOLIO RANCH / LAKE NAKURU NATIONAL PARK
After breakfast this morning we depart for Solio Ranch located just north of the Aberdare Range. We’ll explore the ranch and stop for a picnic lunch overlooking the riverine woodland. Solio Ranch Is a17, 500-acre private ranch and Kenya’s premier rhino breeding sanctuary. The ranch is home to a variety of wildlife such as lion, leopard, and giant forest hog and plains game. The terrain is beautiful and there are few visitors, which makes a visit a peaceful experience.
This afternoon continue to Lake Nakuru entering the National park and arriving at our private camp at dusk. Lake Nakuru National Park was created 30 years ago originally as a bird sanctuary and covers an area of 200square kilometers. The bird is famous for its bird life, particularly flamingos. The lake is one of the Rift Valley’s soda lakes and the flamingos are attracted by microscopic algae called Spirul that live in the lake and it’s this which is responsible for the Flamingos pink hue. The lake is fringed all sides by shady Acacia forest and the National park features a wide range of animals particularly Waterbuck, Warthog, Impala, Rothschild Giraffe, Lion and Leopard. It is also rhino sanctuary and there is therefore a good chance of coming across black and white rhino species. Overnight- Private Tented Camp (all meals & activities)
Day 6 - HOLIDAY IN KENYA LAKE NAKURU NATIONAL PARK
A full day available to explore the National park at leisure. Meals will be taken back at the campsite. Overnight- Private Tented Camp (all meals & activities)
Day 7 - HOLIDAY IN KENYA MAASAI MARA NATIONAL PARK
After breakfast today set off on the long drive to the Maasai Mara arriving mid to late afternoon at the camp. Kicheche Mara Camp is a luxury bush camp hidden away in a grove of trees on the Aitong plains the Maasai Mara. There are a maximum of 20 guests, all staying under canvas in this intimate camp situated in prime wildlife habitat.
The Maasai Mara reserve is probably the most famous game
reserve in the world, with the highest concentration of wildlife in Africa, it provides for wonderful game viewing year round. The Mara is well known for the part it plays in the seasonal (june/sept) migration from Serengeti of about 200,000 Zebra, 300,000 Thomson Gazelle and 1.3 million Wildebeest following the annual rains. In all 95 mammals, amphibians and reptiles species plus 485 flying species excluding insects inhabit the Mara eco-system. Overnight- Private Tented Camp (all meals & activities)
Day 8/9 - HOLIDAY IN KENYA MAASAI MARA NATIONAL PARK
There are two full days available to explore this incredible area and witness the interaction of wildlife on the plains. Each day usually commences with an early morning game drive, return to camp for a late breakfast. The next 4-5 hours are at leisure to relax around 3pm until sundown. Options include a visit to a local Maasai Manyatta (Village) with a lecture on the lifestyle of these famous pastoralists. Ballooning is another fabulous option available; ballons lift off in the early morning and glide silently above the plains before touching down in a remote spot for a classic open-air champagne breakfast hosted in style. Day 10 –HOLIDAY IN KENYA NAIROBI/END OF SAFARI
Take an early morning game drive followed by breakfast then set off for Nairobi. There will be a stop for lunch en-route and arrival in Nairobi will be late afternoon. You will be transferred to the airport for your flight home.
