DAY 1 –ARUSHA
Arrive into Kilimanjaro International Airport where you will be met and transferred to moivaro coffee plantation for overnight, B&B. - Moivaro coffee plantation (D)
Day 2- ARUSHA /TARANGIRE
Your days begin with breakfast and a safari briefing with your driver/ guide before departing by 4wd land rover to Tarangire National park. Mysterious baobab trees are characteristic of this beautiful park, and game viewing is particularly rewarding along the Tarangire river, which provides the only permanent water supply in the area during the dry season. Large herds of elephant, the predators and numerous plains game inhabit the parks as well as many species of birds.
You arrive Tamarind camp in time for lunch and after sometime to settle in, you depart on an afternoon game-drive, returning to your for sundowners by the campfire, dinner and a night-drive to view the nocturnal wildlife. Overnight –Tamarind camp (all meals & activities) or similar.
Day 3- TARANGIRE
Rise early for a nature walk with a Maasai Guide on the boundary of Tangarire National park. After breakfast, depart camp for a whole day of game-viewing in the park, seeking out the wide variety of animals including giraffe, buffalo, lesser kudu. Eland, Oryx, zebra, lion, leopard, cheetah and elephant. You’ll stop in a secluded spot for a picnic lunch, returning to camp in the late afternoon for sundowners and dinner. Overnight – Tamarind camp (all meals & activities) or similar.
Day 4- TARANGIRE / MT LOSIMINGORI
After breakfast you drive off the beaten track, heading north in search of the beautiful Mt.Losimingori.Your first trek begins from the savannah of the Rift Valley floor, to the rain forested heights, immediately below the secret glades of dense forest and deep ravines carved right into the flanks of the mountain.You will arrive at Albezia Mara Adventure camp,in the foothills of the mountain,in time for lunch.
In the afternoon you’ll take an exploratory walk with your Maasai guide,in search of game such as hartebeest,giraffe,zebra and perhaps enter one of the steep sided ravines near camp.Return to camp for dinner.Overnight- Albezia Mara Adventure Camp(all meals &activities)
Day 5- LOSIMINGORI/FOREST CAMP
An early start for the more challenging walk to the summit of Losimingori Mountain.To reach the long ridge, leading to the summit of the mountain, a steep and direct ascent is made to the top of the first foothill near the camp. The footing is poor in places on the rocky hillside, which is covered in tall grass at certain times of the year. As the ridge is climbed, the game trail becomes more defined and the vegetation slowly changes from the open wooded grassland to grassland. The temperature drops as altitude is gained, so stops are made to rest at about every 200 metres gained in altitude. As you reach higher ground, your efforts are rewarded as the views become ever more spectacular. The penultimate hilltop or knoll stands at 2000m and offers a grandstand view of the Rift escarpment, lake Manyara, with the Maasai Mountain (Ngorongoro Highlands and the volcanic mountains of Kerimasi, the still active “Mountain of God” Lengai and Gelai) spreading out in the distance.
The area is a refuge for buffalo and elephant, but great care is taken to avoid any close encounters with the denizens of the forest. The wide game trail leads to the very top of one of the knuckles at 2090m.After lunch at Forest Adventure Camp and a rest, you’ll walk to game viewing point to see elephant and buffalo. Overnight- Forest Adventure Camp (all meals &activities) or similar.
