DAY 1 - Samburu Intrepids Camp, Samburu National Reserve. You will be met on arrival at the International Airport and briefed by your Professional Safari Guide on the safari ahead. The journey by road in a customized safari 4 wheel drive Land Rover takes you through dramatically different scenery, through the lush rainforest area at the foot of the Aberdare Mountain Range, dominated by Mount Kenya , into the high, dry land area of Kenya known as the Northern Frontier District. Lunch is a short stopover at a small restaurant just outside Nanyuki. Arrive at Samburu Intrepids late afternoon, in time for tea or a cool drink, hot shower and to relax before dinner.
DAY 2 - Samburu Intrepids Camp, Samburu National Reserve. After an early wakeup call spend we spend the day exploring Shaba National Reserve, location of the new Survivor series. This hot, dry reserve has beautiful scenery, is renowned for its Elephant herds, big cats and plains game. Lunch is a picnic in the shade of thorn trees, then a leisurely afternoon game drive before returning to Samburu Intrepids in time for hot showers, drinks and dinner.
DAY 3 - Samburu Intrepids Camp, Samburu National Reserve. After a leisurely breakfast drive into Samburu National Reserve. Here the best time for gameviewing is between 1000 and mid-day: Leopard are regularly sighted along with the characteristic northern game including Somali Ostrich, Beisa Oryx, Grevy Zebra, Reticulated Giraffe, the long-necked Gerenuk as well as Elephant, Lion and their prey: the smaller plains game. Lunch is a picnic on the shady river banks of the Ewaso Nyiro river then a short drive back to camp for a siesta and to prepare for the journey ahead.
DAY 4 - Sabuk Lodge, North Laikipia , Northern Frontier District.Depart from camp early in the morning for a 5 hour drive through wonderful semi-desert countryside, past the strange flat-topped 'Lolokwe' mountain and the distant Mathews Range , heading for northern Laikipia, arriving at Sabuk, on the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River in time for lunch. Unpack, relax, maybe swim in the river or just enjoy the uninterrupted view across the Laikipia plains towards the distant mountains. Enjoy an early evening bush sundowner a short walk from camp, high on rocky crags watching the sun set behind the hills.
DAY 5 - Sabuk Lodge, North Laikipia , Northern Frontier District.Set off in the cool early morning for a morning's walk with camels. Or you can ride a camel if you feel tired or want an even better view! Led by a professional safari guide and his team of trained Laikipiak Maasai warriors, the walk takes you across the hills with glimpses of the Ewaso river as it twists and tumbles its way across the highland plains. A picnic brunch under the thorn trees is a treat or picnic lunch on the river banks and a swim as the waters tumble into a natural rock pool. Laze by the river or in the airy mess or your own cottage for the afternoon before campfire sundowners and dinner at the Lodge.
DAY 6 - Longonot Ranch House, Lake Naivasha. Depart after breakfast for a 3 & half hour drive, descending from the Laikipia Plateau onto the Rift Valley floor, heading for Lake Naivasha arriving in time for lunch. After lunch enjoy a guided walk or drive across this beautiful private ranch with views across to Lake Naivasha and Longonot, an extinct volcano on the ranch border. Horseriding is bookable at the ranch - a great way to get up close to the Zebra, Giraffe and other plentiful plains game here.
DAY 7 - Cheli & Peacock Mara Camp, Maasai Mara After an early start from Lake Naivasha , drop down the Mau escarpment to cross the Rift Valley floor, climbing up to the famous plains of the Maasai Mara, arriving in camp late afternoon. Cheli & Peacock's seasonal tented camp is on a specially chosen site, away from the busy tourist circuit. From camp you look out over the savannah and the plains game grazing nearby. Accommodation is in spacious tents with an en suite safari shower & traditional safari 'short drop' toilet.
DAY 8 and 9 - Cheli & Peacock Mara Camp, Maasai Mara. The Maasai Mara is a spectacular gameviewing experience, it is like the Discovery channel only better because you are part of the wildlife experience. Camp is on the edge of an escarpment overlooking the plains in front and wild olive forest behind. This hosted camp serves delicious home-baked north Italian food from the Cheli's family recipes. Game drives, bush breakfasts, sundowners and bush walks around camp make this an unforgettable part of the trip.
DAY 10 - Depart Transfer to the airstrip for your Air Kenya scheduled flight back to Nairobi departing at 11h00. On arrival at 12h15 approximately, a Cheli & Peacock representative will meet and transfer you to your hotel or the international airport.
