Aberdares National Park Safari.
For mountain and range lovers the Aberdares safari will provide the perfect safari in a picturesque and tranquil environment. Located in central Kenya, Aberdares National Park covers a total of 767square kilometers. The park is the highest in terms of altitude In Kenya thus the area is cool as compared to the other parks in the country. The park is 160 kilometers from Nairobi city centre and home to the Aberdare Ranges, a collection of high mountain peaks, mountain streams and spectacular waterfalls. Game drives which were forbidden in this park have recently been allowed back thus you now have a chance to see the hidden beauty of the forested region including sightings of the very rare black leopard.
Accommodation in Aberdares is scarce with only the Treetops Lodge and The Ark Lodge as the only lodges located inside the Aberdares National Park.
The Tree tops Lodge was made famous once England’s current reigning queen went up The Treetops lodge a princess and the next morning descended a queen.
The Lodge hosts a water hole where lots of wildlife comes for a drink and a photography hide where lodge residents can get close to the wildlife to take photos. Nights here can get chilly so you are advised to carry warm clothing.
Aberdares Safari itinerary
DAY 1: NAIROBI – ABERDARES
Pick Up in Nairobi at your hotel at 8.00AM. Drive through the central highlands to Aberdares National Park arriving in late morning. Check in at the Treetops/Ark Lodge. Proceed to the lodge balcony from where you can spot wildlife coming to the water hole for a drink. Have lunch. An afternoon drink at the balcony as you spot wildlife will be the highlight of your day. You could proceed to the ground level photography hide to get close to elephants amongst other wildlife as they come in for a drink.
You can have a nature walk in the park in the afternoon, before returning to the Treetops lodge for dinner and overnight. You have flood lit game viewing at the lodge in the evening.
Day 2: ABERDARES – NAIROBI
Have breakfast at Treetops lodge. Leave the Lodge on a game drive spotting white and black Rhinos, Leopards, Cheetah, buffalos, elephants and zebras. You will also get to see the Aberdares unique scenery and waterfalls. In the early afternoon proceed to the Aberdares Country Club/Outspan Hotel for lunch. Leave Aberdares National Park in the late afternoon for Nairobi arriving at 17:45 Hrs where your safari ends.
