7 Day Amboseli, Aberdares, Lake Nakuru & Masai Mara Safari
This seven-day safari puts four of Kenya’s best-known parks into one week. Begin beneath Mount Kilimanjaro in Amboseli, spend a night at The Ark in the forests of the Aberdares watching elephants at a floodlit waterhole, look for rhinos at Lake Nakuru, and end with three nights in the Masai Mara.
With two full days in the Mara at the end, there is time for a picnic day on the plains and a dawn drive with breakfast in the bush, the best chances of all for big cats.

By road
Day 1: Nairobi – Amboseli National Park (LD)
Your driver-guide collects you from the airport or your Nairobi hotel at 7:30 AM for the drive south along the Mombasa road to Emali, then on to Amboseli’s Kimana Gate. Game drive to Amboseli Serena Lodge for lunch and a rest, then head out until about 6:30 PM, with Kilimanjaro, on clear days, rising behind the elephant herds. Dinner and overnight at Amboseli Serena Lodge.

Day 2: Amboseli – Aberdare National Park (FB)
After an early game drive and breakfast, drive north through Nairobi to Thika for lunch at the Blue Post Hotel beside the Chania Falls. Continue to the Aberdare Country Club, where you leave your main luggage and take a small overnight bag up to The Ark, a lodge set in the forest above a waterhole and salt lick. Spend the evening on the viewing decks as elephants, buffalo, bushbuck and giant forest hogs come to drink. Dinner and overnight at The Ark.

Day 3: Aberdares – Lake Nakuru National Park (FB)
After breakfast, collect your luggage at the Country Club and drive into the Rift Valley to Lake Nakuru, arriving at Lake Nakuru Lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, game drive in search of black and white rhinos, Rothschild’s giraffes, lions and leopards. Dinner and overnight at Lake Nakuru Lodge.

Day 4: Lake Nakuru – Masai Mara (FB)
After a game drive on the way out of the park, drive south-west through Narok to the Masai Mara, arriving at Mara Maisha Camp near Talek Gate for lunch. The camp’s 40 raised tents each have an en-suite bathroom and a veranda, and there is a pool for the heat of the day. In the afternoon, head out on your first Mara game drive. Dinner and overnight at Mara Maisha Camp.

Day 5: Masai Mara Full Day (FB)
Take a packed lunch and spend the whole day in the reserve, with a picnic under an acacia tree. Head towards the Mara River, where hippos and crocodiles gather, and search the open plains for lion prides, cheetahs and the elephants, giraffes, topi and zebras that make the Mara so rewarding. From July to October, the wildebeest migration fills the plains and your guide will look for a river crossing. Dinner and overnight at Mara Maisha Camp.

Day 6: Masai Mara Dawn Drive and Afternoon Drive (FB)
Set out before sunrise with a picnic breakfast, the best time to find big cats on the move, and eat in the bush as the plains wake up. Game drive back to camp for lunch and a rest, then go out again in the afternoon until sunset. You could also start the day with an optional balloon flight. Dinner and overnight at Mara Maisha Camp.

Day 7: Masai Mara – Nairobi (B)
After a final early game drive and breakfast, drive back to Nairobi, arriving in the late afternoon for drop-off at your hotel or the airport.
