2 Day Tsavo East Safari from Mombasa
The two-day Tsavo East safari is one of the shortest safaris you can take from Mombasa, and an easy way to add real wildlife viewing to a beach holiday. You’ll spend an afternoon, an evening and a morning in Tsavo East, Kenya’s largest national park, looking for its famous red-dust elephants, lions, buffalo, giraffes and zebras along the Galana River. We can collect you from Mombasa airport, any Mombasa hotel, or any beach hotel on the North Coast or in Diani at no extra cost, and we can also arrange pick-up from Watamu and Malindi. Choose between two lodges; the route and game drives are the same.

Itinerary
Day 1: Mombasa or Diani – Tsavo East National Park (LD)
Pick up from your beach hotel in Mombasa or Diani, or from Moi International Airport, and drive to Tsavo East National Park. Few sights in Africa are as memorable as Tsavo’s elephants, coloured red by the dust, bathing and spraying water in the palm-lined Galana River. The park is also home to buffalo, lions, leopards, hippos, crocodiles, waterbucks, lesser kudu, gerenuk and more than 500 bird species, and the Yatta Plateau, one of the longest lava flows in the world, runs along its western edge. Enjoy a game drive on the way to your lodge, arriving in time for check-in and lunch. After a rest, head out on an afternoon game drive until sunset. Dinner and overnight at your chosen lodge (see lodge options below).

Day 2: Tsavo East National Park – Mombasa or Diani (BL)
After breakfast, enjoy a morning game drive and return to the lodge for lunch. Tsavo is also known for the “man-eaters of Tsavo”, two lions that attacked workers building the Uganda Railway through the park in 1898 until they were shot by the railway engineer, Lt. Col. John Patterson. In the afternoon, check out and drive back to the coast with a game drive on the way to Voi Gate, with drop-off at your beach hotel in Mombasa or Diani.
