Tsavo East Day Trip from Mombasa or Diani
If you are staying on the coast and have only one day to spare, this trip takes you inland to Tsavo East National Park, Kenya’s largest national park and the closest big park to the beach. You spend about six hours game viewing, with a hearty lunch at Ashnil Aruba Lodge inside the park, and are back at your resort the same evening.
Tsavo East is famous for its large herds of elephants, coloured red by the dust they bathe in, and for the lions once known as the “man-eaters of Tsavo”. Buffalo, giraffes, zebras, cheetahs and many kinds of antelope live here too, along with a great variety of birds.

By road
Day 1: Mombasa or Diani – Tsavo East National Park – Mombasa or Diani (L)
Your driver-guide collects you from your beach resort in Mombasa or Diani at about 5:00 AM for the drive inland, arriving at Tsavo East for a morning game drive. Have lunch at Ashnil Aruba Lodge, beside the Aruba Dam inside the park, then continue game viewing on your way out of the park in the afternoon. You arrive back at your resort in the late evening.
