3 Day Tsavo East & Taita Hills Safari from Mombasa
This three-day safari from Mombasa or Diani explores two very different wildlife areas just a few hours from the coast. Begin in Tsavo East, Kenya’s largest national park, with its red-dust elephants, the palm-lined Galana River and wide open plains. Then move to the Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary, a 28,000-acre private reserve beside Tsavo West, where lodges overlook busy waterholes and the hills of the Eastern Arc rise behind the savannah. Choose between two lodge combinations; the route and game drives are the same.
Itinerary
Day 1: Mombasa or Diani – Tsavo East National Park (LD)
Pick up from your hotel in Mombasa or Diani and drive to Tsavo East National Park, with a game drive on the way to your lodge, arriving in time for lunch. Tsavo East is Kenya’s largest national park, known for its red-dust elephants, the palm-lined Galana River and the Yatta Plateau, one of the longest lava flows in the world. It is home to lions, buffalo, hippos, crocodiles, lesser kudu, gerenuk and more than 500 bird species, and is famous for the “man-eaters of Tsavo”, two lions that attacked workers building the Uganda Railway in 1898. After a short rest, head out on an afternoon game drive until sunset. Dinner and overnight at your chosen lodge (see lodge options below).

Day 2: Tsavo East National Park – Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary (FB)
After breakfast, drive to the Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary with game viewing along the way, arriving for check-in and lunch. This 28,000-acre private sanctuary takes its name from the surrounding Taita Hills, part of the Eastern Arc mountains, a global biodiversity hotspot. Its mix of riverine forest, savannah woodland and grassland lies beside Tsavo West National Park and the LUMO Conservancy, forming an important corridor for wildlife. Look out for elephants, buffalo, lions, leopards, cheetahs, Masai giraffes, zebras, hartebeest and lesser kudu. After a short rest, enjoy an afternoon game drive until sunset. Dinner and overnight at your chosen lodge.

Day 3: Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary – Mombasa or Diani (BL)
After an early morning game drive and breakfast, check out and head back towards the coast with a game drive on the way out of the sanctuary. Drop-off at your beach hotel in Mombasa or Diani.
