Amboseli is especially famous for its majestic elephants, with over 1000 elephants living in the park’s eco-system, which is one of the biggest in Africa. Tortilis Camp is at an excellent location for seeing Africa’s tallest peak, Kilimanjaro. Tortilis Camp is named after the Acacia Tortilis, a flat-topped umbrella thorn tree, and embraces a hill in one of Amboseli’s Acacia Tortilis forest regions. Located in a private conservancy abutting the national park, visitors may enjoy wildlife drives, hikes, sundowners, and bush lunches both inside and outside the national park.
All of the tents are large, with king or double beds and lovely en suite bathrooms. There is a large lounge, bar, and dining room, all of which are beautifully constructed with natural materials and thatched roofs. The Private House and Family Tent are positioned somewhat off from the main camp, on a hill with a pool. Tortilis Camp was one of the first eco-lodges of its scale and is proudly powered entirely by solar energy. Guests may feel certain that they will leave a little impact throughout their stay.
