Lazy Lagoon Island Lodge is constructed using local materials and traditional Swahili architecture. All of the buildings have towering, steep roofs that capture sea breezes and keep you cool in the East African heat. Lazy Lagoon has 12 en suite beach bandas with twin or double beds, as well as an upstairs ‘loft’ with two twin beds, which is great for older children. Each big banda features an upstairs balcony as well as a patio with unobstructed sea views and direct beach access. There can’t be many more pleasant ways to start the day than watching the early morning ngalawas go out fishing while enjoying a coffee on your porch or wandering down to the beach in your jammies to hunt for rock pools!
The main dining and living space is light and open, with high ceilings and cool oak floors; it’s the ideal place to escape the noon sun. Breakfast, lunch, and supper are offered here, with sea views from every table. Relax in the upstairs sunset lounge, which faces the swimming pool and the Indian Ocean. The Swahili-style day beds are ideal for a pre-dinner G&T!
