The Samburu Sopa lodge is situated inside the Samburu National Reserve in Northern Kenya and is perched high above the surrounding hills to provide panoramic views of the huge Samburu shrubland. The majority of the lodge’s workforce is made up of the sons and daughters of the local communities, whose architectural tradition was reflected in the lodge’s construction. A waterhole is surrounded by fifteen cottages, each with two bedrooms, erected in an arch configuration on either side of the common areas, leaving a large gap to allow the animals full access to the water.

Samburu Sopa Lodge is 27 kilometres from Kalama Wildlife Conservancy, while Shaba National Reserve is 50 km away. The facility provides a free airport shuttle service.
