STANLEY’S KOPJE

STANLEY’S KOPJE

Stanley’s Kopje is the sole camp in Mikumi National Park, located atop a rocky kopje on the Mkata flood plain and overlooking the park’s premier wildlife watching spot, the Mwanamboga waterhole. Stanley’s Kopje is perched high atop a rocky kopje, with 360-degree views of the surrounding Mikumi forest, while the 12 tents are scattered around the lower perimeter of the hill, providing breathtaking views across the plains. The tents are placed on high wooden platforms with thatched roofs that give protection from the heat as you relax on your veranda and watch the wildlife around the camp. Stanley’s Kopje has the benefit of being the only raised ground in a level open plain. A nearby waterhole attracts wildlife within sight of the camp, and the Mwanamboga region is often regarded as the best game watching location in the park.
