The resort is located in the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest and most well-known snow-capped mountain, and is set in 200 acres of private land with its own rustic appeal. This area of Kenya served as the inspiration for Ernest Hemingway’s classic short tales “The Snows of Kilimanjaro” and “The Short, Happy Life of Francis Macomber,” which were later adapted into highly successful feature films starring renowned actors in the late 1940s. There is still an abundance of animals in this wilderness, which extends all the way to the Amboseli National Park, which is only a 20 minutes drive from the resort.
The majority of the food we use for our menus comes from the abundant rural areas nearby, allowing us to not only guarantee that it is garden fresh but also to maintain our longstanding relationship to the agricultural communities in the area.
The Maasai people, arguably the most well-known African tribe in the world, live in the park along with over 600 breeding species of birds and a variety of rare and spectacular fauna.
