The name Waine, which is composed of the initials of the family members, reflects the fact that House Of Waine is a family-owned and -operated business. It was meticulously transformed from a family house called House Of Waine to a boutique hotel and eventually opened in 2004. The family matriarch serves as the inspiration for the interior design, which is infused with a timeless beauty much like hers.
The establishment of House of Waine is the culmination of a family dream that dates back to the 1950s, when our maternal grandfather, an entrepreneur, opened a “mkahawa” or coffee shop in Mwiria Village, Meru. Our 11 large rooms are each distinctively decorated, and the titles of the rooms correspond to the various themes. One, two, or three people may stay in one of our nine rooms. The wide windows in the marble bathrooms let in plenty of natural light. The world-famous David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, the Karen Blixen Museum, the Kazuri beads, and other top Nairobi attractions are all conveniently close to House of Waine.
