The Karen Country Club is a family-oriented club that was created in 1937 and is one of Kenya’s oldest golf clubs. The old coffee estate founded by the Danish pioneer Karen Blixen, whose life and times were dramatized in the poetic film ‘Out of Africa,’ provided a substantial portion of the 18-hole course. Indeed, eighty years after they were established, the shade trees from her coffee plantation still overshadow areas of the golf course.
The course is immaculately maintained, with greens created to Professional Golf Association (PGA) specifications. For the previous three years, the Club has hosted the renowned Barclays Kenya Open. Despite Nairobi’s mild temperature, you may play golf in comfort 365 days a year, an intangible advantage that few golf courses in the world can boast. Our golf course has a tranquil environment, with the Ngong hills as a background and a diverse range of trees, indigenous forest, floral plants, and animals. Our golf course’s wetlands are a distinguishing natural feature that also serves as a habitat for hundreds of birds and dik diks.
