Escape from main camp and sleeping out in the midst of nowhere is a well cherished custom at Chada. It’s what we live for. There is no location on the planet that feels like Katavi, and nothing brings you as near as fly camping. We send out an advance party to set up camp and lead you in for a couple of hours so you may arrive just before dusk. The goal is to leave as much as possible behind: belongings, other people, and current events. This is your opportunity to see Katavi like we did before we established a “real” camp. (Some may argue that this is the “correct” camp.)
There are a million wild acres of Katavi to explore, where humans rarely go. Part of our talent is keeping you safe in such a wild environment; another is choosing the ideal campground, near broad floodplains, behind the shadiest trees, with the best night-sky view.
