The golf course is set along Moi avenue in Naivasha, a lake town 2 hrs from Nairobi the capital. Naivasha sports club was established during the colonial era alongside a football field and a basketball pitch. The facility mostly served the settler farmers who owned ranches in Nakuru with one of its founders being Lord Delamare, a pioneer British farmer remembered for his role in shaping the colony’s political landscape. Although the golf course is 9 holes its possible to create 18 holes experience from the layout.

 

The golf course

The par 36, 3109 yards 9 holes golf course is set in well distributed kikuyu grass greens. Even though there are no water features in the golf course most of the holes are surrounded by sand bunkers to give you quite a challenging experience.  Most of the holes are treelined and you will require to make more accurate shots to hit the green. Hole 5 and hole 8 are the winning holes in the golf course both par 5.  Hole 5 requires the longest shot of 628 yards in a single stroke. The 8th hole another par 5 hole is the second longest and quite a tough hole to test the finishing power. Here, there is a bush surrounding the green set on a slope with sand bunkers on sides.

The golf course has an old club house where you can procure different golf equipment.

Here to play 9 holes you will pay Ksh 1200 and 18 holes Ksh 700 Caddies here are more affordable than in golf courses in Nairobi and at the coast.
